Hybrid

Adventure Theatre can be performed in a hybrid style show, mixing both live entertainment and internet access. The Hybrid show allows for a select live audience to be present during the performance, as well as setting up a live stream in which more audience members could watch the show remotely on their computers. This option, as well as the online version, will require at least 2 cameras, a person who can manage the feed line, and camera shots for the online audience members. This need for cameras allows for cooperation between multiple departments. Ten of your students, with the Game Captain, will roleplay their way through the story to an unknown and epic conclusion.

Production design students have an open book when it comes to a design.  There is more freedom of choice with Adventure Theater due to the organic qualities the show inherently offers. Since the show will support a unique production design, students are encouraged to take creative risks.

Online

Adventure Theater! is an interactive theater experience. Adventure Theater combines role playing games and Improv for a new theatrical experience.

Adventure Theater can be done as a Twitch-like platform. The show can be performed with no live audience. The audience can watch the show over a live stream/feed and can call or chat on a feed line to suggest and dictate the outcome of the story. They can roll the dice and then share the results, then suggest what the monsters do to fight against the heroes of the story. Ten of your students can either be present in a room or perform online as they try to survive a story of which they do not know the ending.

Production students can practice their skill set by doing production design work for a performance space or create scale models where the action takes place on camera. All of this is led by the Game Captain who narrates, leads, performs, and helps the audience understand the plot of the story.

Live

Adventure Theater can be performed in a smaller space to allow a more intimate environment. A cast of ten play out their characters objectives in hopes of discovering what their separate characters must achieve. This style of theater makes the moments more organic and tangible due to the lack of a script and heightened stakes. The actors must navigate through their characters’ obstacles to achieve their goals.

In a live setting the theater must supply the space, costumes, lighting, and sound for the show, as well as front of house and concessions.  Adventure Theater will provide the director, the playwright, professional actor, and rights to do the show, props and props weapons as well as run rehearsals.
